Eat Healthy on Compus!

Since I am on a diet right now, I begin to be concern more about the calories in each meal. So gradually, looking at the nutrient table and looking through website for healthy food become my habit when dinning in the Brittains. Here are some healthy dishes which are both delicious and convenient to obtain on campus.

1.Sushi.
Location: Student Center, library, Brittains (sometimes)
Calories:420 kcal(7 pieces)
This is my favourite food not only here but also back in China. This combination of fresh and soft tuna and rice always satisfies my taste buds. With a bit of soy sauce and mustard, this flavour is even heavier and more tasty.

2.Chicken Salad
Location: Student Center, Brittains
Calories:158 kcal
Believe it or not, chicken are always your perfect selection when you want to be on a diet. Though conventionally it is considered to contain high calories, it all attributes to the fact that the fried chicken in the KFC and McDonald leave us too deep impression of high-calorie food. Actually, the amount of the calories contained in the dishes largely depend on the method you cook it. This way, we not only can enjoy the delightful taste of chicken but also get healthy!

3.Fruits
Location:Student Center, Brittains, Woodruff, Library
Calories: It depends
Whenever eating before a main dish, I will always eat a banana. Actually, eating fruits before the meal is a lot better than eating after the meal. However, fruits still contain a lot of sugars, so they are still not suitable for eating a whole lot at the same time.

  1. I'm in the colorguard and we had a nutritionist come talk to us during band camp about keeping a healthy weight. Her biggest thing was to eat several (about 5) small meals a day. So a breakfast, small smack, lunch, small snack, and then dinner. For girls the main meals should be about 300 calories and the snacks about 200 calories. This would be adjusted to your own needs though. She also recommended eating fruits before noon. This is because fruits have a lot of natural sugar and your body will use that sugar the rest of the day and not store it. Maybe this will help...

  2. If you're looking for good fruit, try going up to Buzz By on weekday afternoons. They consistently have great apples, much better than the ones in Brittain. I have an unlimited meal plan so I'll sometimes eat lunch in Brittain then go up to Buzz By and grab a few apples to keep in the fridge in my dorm room. They're perfect after a workout at the CRC.

  3. Sushi at brritain looks bad. My roommate and I enjoy sushi. One day we found out that brittain serves sushi. We were excited to try it out..... Until we finally got to look at low quality sushi and a woman who cutting sushi with a small electric saw.

  4. I had no idea Brittain ever had sushi... weird. When I try to eat healthier in the dining halls, I skip the pizza or burger bar and eat a nice salad or load up on fruit.(Pretty much the same as you)

  5. "Eat Healthy on Campus", what an ambitious idea. Student center is definitely a choice, but the difference is not that much. Moreover, student center is kinda expensive with respect to food they serve.
